Big Sister Class

We are all getting ready for the Mad Hatter's arrival. Sofia took her big sister class last weekend at the hospital that I will deliver at. She didn't get to do the tour, and she won't be able to come up and see the baby (H1N1 still). The entire class was comical from beginning to end. My mom and I were laughing so hard I thought I might have the baby! The lady who taught the class talked a lot, and didn't always have the most age appropriate stories. Sofia met a very nice friend (that she is still talking about), and the two of them made their own fun.
The other funny thing that happened at big sister class is when we went to learn how to change the baby's diaper, there was poop in it!!!!! I wasn't quite expecting that (and neither was the instructor!). Apparently they put deli mustard in the diaper area, and you get a big surprise- more like a bio hazard if you thought it was real poop like I did!
Here are a couple of pictures from that day:

Sofia got to wear her big sister special outfit, and go to Chick-fil-A before hand. A real treat!

She's official!

Dentist

Sofia went for her first dental visit. We absolutely love our dentist, he is GREAT! So I wanted to get her in early to see him. If she has any genetics from my side for her teeth, she is in trouble. However he assures me that her teeth look great. She was scared at first, but because he is so great, he put her right at ease. In fact she has been telling everyone that she went to the dentist and he made her a hand balloon, and she got to hold "Mr. Thirsty!"

Watch out Rick Bayless!

So when Chad and I went to Chicago we went to Rick Bayless's restaurant Frontera. It was everything that I had hoped it would be. There was NO disappointment!!!!!!!!! He is absolutely my food hero, I wish I had even an ounce of his talent.
Well Chad bought me one of his cook books, which is probably one of the most amazing cook books out there. It is not just a giant book of complicated recipes, but actual great advice, and it is a great read. I am learning a lot.
So I made guacamole, which I learned is fantastic if you have decent, ripe avocados. Completely fresh ingredients, and garnish with radishes.
Once it was made, Chad and I gorged ourselves on guacamole!!!!!!!!!!!!

BFF

Yesterday during lunch Sofia and I were talking about all of her, "favorites." I was asking her what her favorite color was, what her favorite food, place to go, etc... Well I also asked her who her best friend was, and she said, "You, Mommy." It melted my heart, I mean how sweet!
