Did she really!?

Emily LOVES Sofia!!!! I mean loves her, and the feeling is mutual. However I think this picture really captures it all.

Emily- She is touching me....I mean she is really touching me! It is almost a hug!

Sofia- hey there, I am doing a puzzle. Do you see how good it looks, and what a great job I am doing.

Sleeping Beauty

We have a fantastic book store here and we have gone to it several times already. The owner brings in different "authors," to read their books. Here is the latest author visit.

PS Please notice how star stuck Sofia is, and how terrified Emily is that I might leave her with this beautiful stranger.

Spelling it out

Sofia had Chad and I literally in tears at dinner the other night. She was trying to ask if she could watch a movie after dinner but this was the conversation:

Sofia - "Mommy can I watch a T U V I W B?"
Mommy- "What?"
Sofia - "Can I watch a T U B I W after dinner?"
Mommy- "Sofia what are you talking about?"
Sofia- "Mommy can I watch a movie after dinner."
Mommy figuring it all out, "No you may not watch a M O V I E (spelling it) but you can go to B E D."

Well after Chad and I laughed at it, and told her how funny she was that she could now "spell," things out like mommy and daddy, she now spells everything! So it is a constant game of guess what I am spelling and saying. As if operating like a zombie these days wasn't hard enough (Emily is NOT sleeping through the night), I can't even figure out half of what Chad is spelling, now I am trying to figure out what Sofia is spelling too!!!!! I love it!

An Angel visit

An Angel visited Sofia's room last night and gave her three kisses on her nose!!!!!! In case you don't know what I am talking about Sofia has three baby freckles on her nose. I discovered them when I was pushing her in the cart today at Trader Joe's. She is super excited about them, because as she says, "Now I will look just like Mommy!" So if she didn't look like me before (which we all know she did) now she really will!!!!!

Welcome to Southern California

So I totally love our new home and Southern California. We were meant to live here. It is sunny and beautiful and the people are so nice and laid back.

However Chad and I had to laugh the other day (otherwise we would have cried) because when we were driving home, cop cars were also driving into our neighborhood, people were standing outside and roads were being blocked off because the mountain in front of our house was on fire! It seems that natural disaster seems to follow us everywhere we move sniper in Rockville, hurricane Isabelle with no electricity for a week, blizzard of both 2002 and 2010, and a cicada infestation! Luckily it got taken care of and was under control in a matter of hours, but it did take out 10 acres of land!

Here is a video:

So then the following week Sofia and I came home from our neighborhood night out and she said, "Oh look Mommy a lizard in our house!" It was really cool, and he was just a baby. I think he was more freaked out than we were. But none the less he must live outside. So I put him in a container, and we took him outside to live.

Girls and their "birthdays"

Sofia turned three on July 30th! I can't believe it. It seems like yesterday Chad was driving 90 miles an hour in our mustang to the hospital just because he could. And now she is a walking talking girl of Independence. For her birthday Grandma and Grandpa were here, which was super fun! We all went to Kid's Space, a children's museum in Pasadena. Here she is on her actual birthday. Then we went home, took a nap (begrudged by our birthday girl) and had a nice dinner as a family in our new home. I baked a cake in my new kitchen it was really fun to be back in my own kitchen (but 10 times bigger!).

Here are a couple of pics from the day:

Sofia riding the big jeep with Cinderella at Kid's space

Grandpa and Sofia checking out the huge hissing cockroach! YUCK!!!!

This was fun, it was an "earthquake," station- read the bottom of the screen:)

My big girl riding a trike. She really tried hard to do it, and even though she caused a HUGE traffic jam and a few accidents (none of which she was in, just caused), she did a great job!

Cinderella and Sofia at the falling rock station- set up next to the earthquake display....should I be worried!

Grandpa and Grandma gave her a Snow white dress, necklace, gloves, and a purse- she hasn't taken it off since!

My sous chefs helping me make the cake

The birthday cake- as you can see I had a little too much fun with this one! It turned out pretty good, except the cake crumbled horribly. I guess it will just take some time to get use to my new oven and climate:)

Sofia, Emily, Mommy and Daddy all at the birthday dinner

Emily is now four months old. She is so cute, happy, and really talkative! We took her today for her four month check up (she is now asleep because of her shots:( But she did good. She is in the 98% for height and 68% for weight, what can I say- don't mess with her, or come between her and food!

My beautiful girl

What? Who is getting a shot!?

The new Casa

So I am going to take a break from moving, unpacking, changing diapers, cleaning up messes and such to post a little of the ciaos that is the Smith house hold these days.
We have officially moved to California!!!!!! I love it, it is sunny and beautiful and the people here are SO nice. It is a little different than Maryland and I am having to be patient and slow down, but I think it will come and it will be so nice to have a slow pace life with the girls.
Sofia officially has her big girl room and it is pink (as requested!). We have a lot more space in this place, that is for sure. We have unpacked our playroom, kitchen, and most of the bedrooms and bathrooms. We will work on that this weekend. We have a "hot pool," in the backyard which Sofia loves and would love to just live in it.
Here are a couple of pictures of us moving in. I will post more and a before and after video once we are all finished.

This was the first time I used this slide show website and I don't think it caught all of the picture so here is a link to go directly to the slideshow.

The all American girls

Before I was pregnant last year I saw these outfits at Gymboree and thought, "They are so cute, and so on sale I am just going to buy them and hope that I get pregnant soon enough to have two girls next summer to wear them, and if not I will keep Sofia's and give the other away as a gift." Well sure enough I got my wish, and I have two beautiful girls:)
